Target Information
CDH9 (cadherin-9) is a type II classical cadherin from the cadherin superfamily, which are integral membrane proteins mediating calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion. Mature cadherins consist of a large N-terminal extracellular domain, a single membrane-spanning domain, and a small, conserved C-terminal cytoplasmic domain. The extracellular domain contains five subdomains with cadherin motifs that determine homophilic adhesion specificity. Type II cadherins lack the HAV cell adhesion recognition sequence found in type I cadherins.
