Target Information
TNFAIP3, also known as A20, is located in chromosome band 6q23, a region often deleted in B cell lymphomas. It acts as a tumor suppressor gene in Hodgkin lymphoma and several non-Hodgkin lymphoma subtypes. TNFAIP3 encodes a zinc-finger protein rapidly induced by TNF-α, inhibiting NF-κB-dependent gene expression and protecting cells from TNF-α cytotoxicity. It also negatively regulates TLR-mediated inflammatory responses, preventing excessive immune reactions. At least two isoforms are known to exist.
