Target Information
BAX는 Bcl-2 패밀리에 속하는 단백질로, 세포사멸(apoptosis) 조절에 중요한 역할을 합니다. Bcl-2가 항-세포사멸 단백질로 알려져 있는 반면, BAX는 세포사멸을 촉진하는 기능을 가집니다. BAX와 Bcl-2는 각각 다양한 아이소폼을 가지며, 이들은 서로 호모 혹은 헤테로다이머를 형성하여 세포사멸 조절에 관여합니다.
BAX 유전자는 Bax α (21 kDa)와 Bax β (24 kDa) 등의 아이소폼을 암호화하며, 두 형태 모두 BH1, BH2, BH3 도메인을 포함합니다. Bax β는 고유한 카복시 말단을 가지며 소수성 막통과 도메인이 없습니다. BAX의 과발현은 세포사멸을 유도하며, 다른 BCL-2 관련 단백질과의 상호작용을 통해 세포사멸 경로를 조절합니다.
