ELAC2 유전자는 tRNA 3' 말단 절단 효소 활성을 가진 단백질을 암호화하며, precursor tRNA의 3' trailer 제거를 촉매합니다. 또한 Smad2 및 FAST-1과 상호작용하며, 발현 감소 시 TGF-β 유도 성장 억제를 저해할 수 있습니다. 이 유전자의 돌연변이는 전립선암 위험 증가와 관련이 있습니다. 다양한 전사 변이체가 보고되어 있습니다.
