Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum using epitope-specific immunogen. Purity is greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene is a lysosomal acid sphingomyelinase that converts sphingomyelin to ceramide and also exhibits phospholipase C activity. Defects in this gene are associated with Niemann-Pick disease type A (NPA) and type B (NPB). Three transcript variants encoding two different isoforms have been identified.
