Target Information
PDCD4 (Programmed Cell Death Protein 4) is a tumor suppressor protein involved in apoptosis and cell growth regulation. Its expression increases during apoptosis and is often lost in carcinomas of breast, colon, lung, and prostate. PDCD4 inhibits the helicase activity of eIF4A and the transactivation mediated by AP-1. Akt kinase phosphorylates PDCD4, reducing its inhibitory effect on AP-1-responsive promoters. Two isoforms of PDCD4 are known.
