Product Specific Information

The 4S.B3 monoclonal antibody reacts with interferon-gamma (IFNγ), a 17 kDa cytokine produced by activated T and NK cells with antiviral and antiparasitic activity. It synergizes with TNFα to inhibit proliferation and modulate immune responses across various cell types. Glycosylation does not affect biological activity.

Target Information

IFNγ (Interferon gamma, Type II interferon) is a macrophage activation factor produced by T-lymphocytes and NK cells in response to antigens and cytokines. It is a dimeric glycoprotein (~45 kDa) with species-specific activity—human IFNγ does not cross-react with mouse.

Functions of IFNγ:

  • Antiviral and tumor antiproliferative activity
  • Induction of MHC class I and II expression
  • Macrophage activation
  • Enhanced immunoglobulin secretion by B cells
  • Cytokine regulation via JAK-STAT pathway activation

Human IFNγ shares ~40% sequence homology with mouse IFNγ. Expression is upregulated by IL2, FGF basic, EGF, and downregulated by vitamin D3 or DMN. Mutations in the IFNγ gene are associated with aplastic anemia.
