Product Specific Information
- Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature.
- For formalin-fixed tissues: Heat tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 min at 95°C, then cool at room temperature for 20 min.
- This antibody shows broad species reactivity.
Target Information
PGP9.5 (Protein gene product 9.5, UCH-L1, PARK5) is a neuron-specific protein, distinct from neuron-specific enolase.
It has a molecular weight of 27 kDa and belongs to the ubiquitin carboxyl-terminal hydrolase family 1 (peptidase family C12).
PGP9.5 exhibits ubiquitin hydrolase and ligase activities and is expressed in neurons, neuroendocrine cells, renal tubules, testis cells, and ova.
Abnormal expression is associated with neurodegenerative diseases (Huntington, Alzheimer) and certain cancers (non-small cell lung cancer).
Useful as a neuronal marker and in studies of neurodegenerative disorders such as Parkinson’s disease.
