Target Information

CD14 is a 55 kDa GPI-anchored glycoprotein expressed on mature monocytes, macrophages, and neutrophils. It functions as a multifunctional lipopolysaccharide receptor and is found both in membrane-bound and soluble forms. CD14 interacts with lipopolysaccharide-binding protein (LBP) to bind LPS molecules and plays a role in immune response regulation, apoptosis recognition, and inflammatory processes. Alternative splicing produces multiple transcript variants encoding the same isoform. CD14 dysfunction is associated with conditions such as Mycobacterium chelonae infection and croup.
