Target Information
CHEK1 (CHK1) is a serine/threonine protein kinase involved in preventing replication when DNA integrity is compromised. It is a key mediator in the DNA damage-induced checkpoint network and plays an essential role in maintaining genomic stability under genotoxic stress. Inhibition of CHK1 can lead to mitotic catastrophe in p53-deficient cancer cells while normal cells remain arrested in G1 phase. Therefore, CHK1 is considered an attractive therapeutic target for cancer treatment, particularly for p53-deficient cancers.
