This antibody specifically recognizes Human S100A7.

Target Information

The protein encoded by the S100A7 gene belongs to the S100 family of calcium-binding proteins, characterized by two EF-hand motifs. These proteins are found in the cytoplasm and/or nucleus and are involved in regulating various cellular processes such as cell cycle progression and differentiation.

S100 genes are clustered on chromosome 1q21 and include at least 13 members. S100A7 differs from other S100 proteins by lacking calcium-binding ability in one EF-hand at the N-terminus. It is markedly overexpressed in psoriatic skin lesions but is not a candidate gene for familial psoriasis susceptibility. The exact biological function remains unclear.
