뎅기열 및 뎅기 출혈열은 열성 급성 질환으로 열대 및 아프리카 지역에서 발생합니다. Flavivirus 속, Flaviviridae 과에 속하는 4가지 밀접하게 관련된 바이러스 혈청형 중 하나에 의해 유발되며, 각 혈청형은 교차 보호가 없어 여러 혈청형이 동시에 유행할 수 있습니다. 뎅기 바이러스는 낮 동안 흡혈하는 Aedes aegypti(드물게 Aedes albopictus) 모기에 의해 인간에게 전파됩니다.
