Product Specific Information
This product contains purified recombinant human ICAM-1 protein with an N-terminal hexahistidine tag.
It may be used as a positive control in various immunological assays.
Target Information
ICAM-1 (CD54) is an 85–110 kDa single-chain type I integral membrane glycoprotein composed of five extracellular immunoglobulin-like domains, a transmembrane region, and a cytoplasmic domain.
It has seven potential N-linked glycosylation sites and shares sequence homology with ICAM-2 (CD102) and ICAM-3 (CD50).
ICAM-1 binds to integrins CD11a/CD18 (LFA-1) and CD11b/CD18 (Mac-1), and serves as a receptor for Rhinovirus.
It is expressed on activated endothelial cells, epithelial cells, fibroblasts, chondrocytes, B and T lymphocytes, monocytes, macrophages, dendritic cells, and neutrophils, with expression increasing during inflammation.
Soluble ICAM-1 can be detected in plasma and is elevated in patients with various inflammatory syndromes.
