Target Information
AASDH encodes a member of the non-ribosome peptide synthetase (NRPS) enzyme family. The encoded protein contains AMP-binding, PP-binding (phosphopantetheine or pantetheine 4′-phosphate-binding), and Pyrrolo-quinoline quinone (PQQ) binding domains. It is expressed in several adult tissues and covalently binds beta-alanine in an ATP-dependent manner to form a thioester bond with its phosphopantetheine group, transferring it to an unknown acceptor. It may be required for post-translational protein or post-transcriptional RNA modification.
