Product Specific Information

1 µg/mL of MA5-45488 was sufficient for detection of alpha1 GABA receptor in 10 µg of rat brain lysate by colorimetric immunoblot analysis using Goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody. Detects approximately 55 kDa. No cross-reactivity against GABA-A-R-Alpha2 or -Alpha3.

Target Information

Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) is the primary inhibitory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system. It causes membrane hyperpolarization through the opening of Cl⁻ channels associated with the GABAA receptor (GABAA-R) subtype.
GABAA-Rs are key therapeutic targets for sedative, anxiolytic, and hypnotic agents, and are implicated in diseases such as epilepsy, anxiety, depression, and substance abuse.
The GABAA-R is a multimeric subunit complex composed of multiple alpha, beta, and gamma subunits. Coexpression of a gamma subunit is required for benzodiazepine modulation. Different alpha subunits mediate distinct benzodiazepine effects, and phosphorylation of beta subunits can modulate receptor function.
