Target Information
Catalytic component of a P4-ATPase flippase complex that catalyzes ATP hydrolysis coupled to the transport of aminophospholipids from the outer to the inner leaflet of membranes, maintaining phospholipid asymmetry.
Phospholipid translocation is implicated in vesicle formation and lipid signaling molecule uptake.
The ATP8A2:TMEM30A complex primarily transports phosphatidylserine (PS) and, to a lesser extent, phosphatidylethanolamine (PE).
Functions in maintaining phospholipid asymmetry in photoreceptor disk and neuronal axon membranes, possibly involved in vesicle trafficking and neurite outgrowth regulation with TMEM30A.
Required for normal visual and auditory function, contributing to photoreceptor and spiral ganglion cell survival.
