Target Information

Syntrophin alpha-1 (Dystrophin, SNTA1) is a large, rod-like cytoskeletal protein localized at the inner surface of muscle fibers. Dystrophin is absent in Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy patients and reduced in Becker Muscular Dystrophy patients. The encoded protein is a peripheral membrane protein associated with dystrophin and related proteins. This gene belongs to the syntrophin gene family, which includes at least two other structurally related members.
