Target Information
The COPE gene encodes the epsilon subunit of the coatomer protein complex. This cytosolic complex binds to dilysine motifs and associates with Golgi non-clathrin-coated vesicles, playing a critical role in Golgi-to-ER retrograde transport. The coatomer complex includes at least seven subunits: alpha, beta, beta', gamma, delta, epsilon, and zeta. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants have been identified.
