Assay by immunoelectrophoresis resulted in a single precipitin arc against anti-rabbit serum, purified and partially purified Alpha-1-Acid Glycoprotein (Human Plasma).
Cross-reactivity against Alpha-1-Acid Glycoprotein from other species may occur but has not been specifically determined.
Target Information
ORM1 is an acute phase plasma protein synthesized by the liver. It regulates interactions between blood cells and endothelial cells, and together with haptoglobin and C-reactive protein, plays a role in cell extravasation during infection and inflammation.
ORM1 (44 kDa) is found at levels of 0.5–1.4 mg/mL in human plasma. Its concentration increases during acute inflammation, trauma, malignancy, myocardial infarction, rheumatoid arthritis, bacterial infections, and post-surgery conditions.
It serves as a useful marker for inflammatory response studies.
