Target Information
Hepatocyte Nuclear Factor 1 (HNF1, also known as Homeoprotein LFB3, Transcription factor 2, TCF2, Variant hepatic nuclear factor) is a member of the homeodomain-containing transcription factor superfamily.
It acts as a liver-specific factor in the homeobox-containing basic helix-turn-helix family and binds DNA as a homodimer or heterodimer with HNF1-alpha.
HNF1 plays roles in nephron and pancreatic development. Mutations can result in renal cysts and diabetes syndrome, and its expression is altered in certain cancers.
Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
