내이에서는 음향 전달, 청각 신경전달, 외유모세포 전기운동성, 내이 갭 연결 및 K⁺ 재활용 조절에 중요한 역할을 합니다.
P2RX2 관련 질환으로는 Autosomal Dominant 41형 난청 및 Dfna41 비증후성 청각 손실이 있습니다.
