Target Information
MAP2K2 (MEK2) is a dual specificity serine/threonine kinase involved in mitogen growth factor signal transduction. MEK2 (MAPKK2) activates ERK1/2 and MAPK enzymes by phosphorylating residues within the TEY motif in the activation loop. MEK1/2 are activated by dual phosphorylation on serine 218 and 222. Threonine 292 of MEK1 is phosphorylated by ERK2, providing a negative feedback mechanism that suppresses MEK1 activation.
