Target Information
Histone H3 is a DNA-binding protein found in the chromatin of all eukaryotic cells. Together with other core histones, it forms the nucleosome structure that organizes DNA. Histone H3 plays a central role in transcription regulation, DNA repair, replication, and chromosomal stability.
The N-terminal tail of histone H3 protrudes from the nucleosome core and undergoes post-translational modifications such as methylation, acetylation, and phosphorylation, which influence chromatin structure and gene expression.
