Target Information
The ERAL1 protein is a GTPase localized to mitochondria. It binds the 3′ terminal stem loop of 12S mitochondrial rRNA and is essential for assembly of the 28S small mitochondrial ribosomal subunit. Deletion of this gene leads to mitochondrial dysfunction, growth retardation, and apoptosis. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
