Target Information
ACINUS (apoptotic chromatin condensation inducer in the nucleus) is involved in chromatin condensation. It is cleaved by caspase-3 and another protease to generate a small active peptide, p17, which induces chromatin condensation in vitro. ACINUS also induces apoptotic chromatin condensation in cells and is ubiquitously expressed. Three spliced forms of Acinus have been identified in human and mouse.
