Target Information
In eukaryotes, phosphorylation and dephosphorylation of proteins on serine and threonine residues regulate essential cellular functions such as division, homeostasis, and apoptosis. Protein phosphatases, including PP1, PP2A, PP2B (calcineurin), and PP2C, are key enzymes in these processes. The PP2A family includes PP2A alpha and PP2A beta subunits. Another catalytic subunit, PPX (also known as PP4), is considered part of a novel PP family.
