Target Information

AKAP8L may play a role in constitutive transport element (CTE)-mediated gene expression by association with DHX9, increasing CTE-dependent nuclear unspliced mRNA export. It is proposed to target PRKACA to the nucleus and may be involved in nuclear envelope breakdown, chromatin condensation, and anchoring of nuclear membranes to chromatin. It may regulate the initiation phase of DNA replication when associated with TMPO isoform Beta and is required for cell cycle G2/M transition and histone deacetylation during mitosis. In mitotic cells, AKAP8L recruits HDAC3 to chromatin, leading to deacetylation and phosphorylation at Ser-10 of histone H3. It may also be involved in regulation of pre-mRNA splicing.
