This product is preservative-free. It is recommended to add sodium azide to avoid contamination (final concentration 0.05%–0.1%).

Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. These systems are developed by cloning antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits, followed by screening of individual clones to select optimal candidates for production.

This antibody has specificity for Mouse Fas Ligand/FASLG/CD95L.

Target Information

CD178 (Fas ligand, FasL) is a type-II membrane protein with its N-terminus in the cytoplasm and its C-terminal region extending extracellularly. Its receptor, FasR, is a type-I membrane protein and a member of the TNF and NGF receptor families.
CD178 induces apoptosis upon interaction with FasR and exists in both membrane-bound (45 kD) and soluble (26 kD) forms, the latter generated by metalloproteinase cleavage.

Binding of CD178 to Fas triggers receptor oligomerization and apoptotic signaling. CD178 is predominantly expressed in activated T-lymphocytes and NK cells, as well as immune-privileged tissues such as testis and eye. Expression is also seen in thymus, liver, ovary, lung, heart, and kidney.

The Fas/CD178 system plays key roles in antiviral immune responses, immune regulation, and T cell-mediated cytotoxicity. Dysregulation has been associated with atherosclerosis, inflammatory disease, AIDS, hepatitis, and cancer.
