This antibody detects endogenous levels of total IL-2RA/CD25.

Target Information

The CD4 antigen is involved in the recognition of the type II MHC antigen and serves as a receptor for HIV. It is present on most T helper cells and thymocytes, with its cytoplasmic portion associated with p56lck tyrosine kinase. CD4 expression is common in human lymph nodes and tonsils.

CD44 is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein, also known as Phagocytic Glycoprotein-1 (pgp-1) and HCAM. It acts as a receptor for hyaluronate and exists in multiple isoforms due to alternative RNA splicing. The major isoform is expressed on lymphocytes, myeloid cells, and erythrocytes. CD44 is involved in leukocyte adhesion to endothelial cells, stromal cells, and the extracellular matrix.

CD25 (IL2RA) forms part of the high-affinity IL-2 receptor complex along with IL2RB and IL2RG. Homodimeric alpha chains (IL2RA) result in a low-affinity receptor, while beta chain homodimers (IL2RB) yield medium-affinity receptors. Soluble IL2RA has been isolated and results from extracellular proteolysis. Alternative splicing of IL2RA mRNA has been observed, though the functional significance is not fully understood. Mutations in IL2RA are associated with interleukin 2 receptor alpha deficiency.
