• For IHC (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
• Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.

Target Information

CEA (Carcinoembryonic Antigen, CD66e) is synthesized during fetal gut development and re-expressed in intestinal carcinomas and other tumors. It belongs to the immunoglobulin supergene family, comprising one N domain and six constant-like A and B domains.
Antibodies to CEA help identify metastatic adenocarcinomas and distinguish pulmonary adenocarcinomas (CEA+) from pleural mesotheliomas (rarely or weakly CEA+).
CEA functions as a cell adhesion molecule found on leukocytes, epithelia, and endothelia, mediating homophilic and heterophilic interactions. It plays roles in tissue differentiation, angiogenesis, apoptosis, tumor suppression, metastasis, and immune modulation.
Multiple transcript variants exist, though not all full-length forms have been defined.
