Reconstitution Instructions:
Add 200 µL of distilled water to 0.2 mg of lyophilized product to bring final concentration to 1.0 mg/mL. After reconstitution, store at -80°C and avoid freeze and thaw cycles.

Target Information

Peroxiredoxin (Prx) is a growing peroxidase family, whose mammalian members are associated with cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. Many isoforms (about 50 proteins) are classified based on amino acid sequence homology, particularly in the amino-terminal region containing the active site cysteine residue and thiol-specific antioxidant activity, and are distributed throughout all kingdoms.

Mammalian Prx consists of six different members grouped into typical 2-Cys, atypical 2-Cys, and 1-Cys Prx. Except for Prx VI (1-Cys subgroup), the other five 2-Cys Prx isotypes exhibit thioredoxin-dependent peroxidase (TPx) activity using thioredoxin, thioredoxin reductase, and NADPH as a reducing system.

Mammalian Prxs are 20–30 kDa in size and vary in subcellular localization:

• Prx I, II, and VI: cytosol
• Prx III: mitochondria
• Prx IV: ER and secretion
• Prx V: peroxisome, mitochondria, and cytosol
