Campylobacter PCR Detection and Typing Kit (cdt gene)

Conventional culture identification of Campylobacter species takes weeks, but the Campylobacter (cdt gene) PCR Detection and Typing Kit specifically and rapidly identifies Campylobacter jejuni (C. jejuni), Campylobacter coli (C. coli), and Campylobacter fetus (C. fetus) within hours.

The kit uses PCR to detect the B subunit (cdtB) and C subunit (cdtC) of the cytolethal distending toxin (cdt) genes. Ex Taq HS version, cdtB and cdtC primer mixes, and positive controls are included.

In the Campylobacter species, there are occasional strains with deletions or mutations on their cdtB or cdtC genes. To increase detection accuracy, both cdtB and cdtC genes are targeted. Takara Bio’s Ex Taq HS enzyme reduces mispriming and non-specific amplification from primer dimers.

This kit was developed by Takara Bio in collaboration with Osaka Prefecture University and Fuso Pharmaceutical Industries, Ltd.
