Target Information
Slac2-a (synaptotagmin-like protein homolog lacking C2 domains-a) links Rab27A on melanosomes with Myosin VA in melanocytes.
It binds Myosin VA through a C-terminal region and GTP-bound Rab27A through its synaptotagmin-like protein homology domain (SHD) near the N-terminus.
Stable formation of this complex is required for pigment and cytotoxic granule transport in melanocytes.
Mutations in binding domains of these proteins may lead to albinism and/or immune disorders.
