Target Information
The Golgi apparatus participates in glycosylation and transport of proteins and lipids in the secretory pathway and consists of stacked cisternae. Interactions between the Golgi and microtubules are important for its reorganization after fragmentation during mitosis. GM130 encodes one of the golgins, a family of Golgi-localized proteins involved in cisternae stacking and vesicular transport. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants exist, though their full-length nature is undetermined.
