Target Information

Histone H3 is a DNA-binding protein found in the chromatin of all eukaryotic cells. Together with four core histone proteins, it binds to DNA forming the nucleosome structure. Histones play a central role in transcription regulation, DNA repair, DNA replication, and chromosomal stability. Post-translational modifications of histones alter chromatin structure or enable specific transcription factor binding. The N-terminal tail of histone H3 can undergo modifications such as methylation, acetylation, and phosphorylation, influencing diverse cellular processes.
