The monoclonal antibody C1 recognizes human and mouse Musashi-2 (Msi2), a conserved RNA-binding protein with two RNA-recognition domains. Msi2 is expressed in stem and tumor cells, neural progenitors, and hematopoietic stem cells. It associates with Sox2 and is essential for embryonic stem cell self-renewal. Overexpression of Musashi-2 correlates with poor survival in myeloid leukemia, suggesting its potential as a prognostic marker for AML.
Applications Reported: Suitable for Western blotting, IHC of FFPE tissues, and immunocytochemistry.
Applications Tested:
- IHC on human FFPE tissue at ≤10 µg/mL (high or low pH antigen retrieval)
- WB on reduced whole mouse brain and SK-N-SH cell lysate at ≤5 µg/mL
Careful titration is recommended for optimal assay performance.
Target Information
Msi2 (musashi homolog 2, MSI2H) is a 328 amino acid cytoplasmic RNA-binding protein with two RRM domains. It regulates mRNA expression involved in stem cell proliferation and maintenance in the CNS. Msi2 expression increases after brain injury, suggesting a role in regeneration. Chromosomal aberrations of Msi2 are linked to chronic myeloid leukemia. Multiple isoforms exist due to alternative splicing.
