Target Information

The v-Fos oncogene was first identified in murine osteosarcoma and avian nephroblastoma viruses.
Members of the c-Fos gene family—c-Fos, Fos B, Fra-1, and Fra-2—encode nuclear phosphoproteins that act as transcriptional regulators.
These proteins are rapidly and transiently induced by various stimuli.
Unlike c-Jun proteins, which can form homo- and heterodimers binding to DNA response elements, c-Fos proteins function only as heterodimers with Jun family members.
Certain ATF/CREB family members can also form leucine zipper dimers with Fos and Jun, exhibiting distinct specificity and affinity for AP-1 and CRE sites.
