Target Information

POU5F1, commonly known as Oct-4, is a maternally expressed octamer-binding protein involved in early embryonic development. It plays a key role in maintaining pluripotency and self-renewal in stem cells. Expression of POU5F1, along with Sox2, Klf4, Lin28, and c-Myc, enables the creation of induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells from somatic cells. Recent studies show that iPS cells can be generated using non-viral expression plasmids, improving safety for regenerative medicine applications.
