Target Information

The CDH17 gene belongs to the cadherin superfamily, encoding calcium-dependent, membrane-associated glycoproteins. The protein is cadherin-like, containing seven cadherin domains and a transmembrane region but lacking the conserved cytoplasmic domain.
CDH17 is expressed in the gastrointestinal tract and pancreatic ducts, functioning as an intestinal proton-dependent peptide transporter involved in the absorption of peptide-based drugs. It may also contribute to the morphological organization of liver and intestine.
Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
