Target Information
TIP5 is the large subunit of the nucleolar remodeling complex (NoRC), which represses ribosomal gene transcription. Histone deacetylation is involved in this repression, and TIP5 associates with histone deacetylase HDAC1 to mediate deacetylation of histones near the rDNA promoter. The interaction between TIP5 and HDAC1, essential for transcriptional repression, is established by the C-terminal PHD finger and bromodomain.
