Target Information
POU5F1, commonly known as Oct-4, is a maternally expressed octamer-binding transcription factor essential for early embryonic development. It plays a key role in maintaining pluripotency and self-renewal of stem cells. Expression of POU5F1, along with Sox2, Klf4, Lin28, and c-Myc, enables the generation of induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells from somatic cells. Recent research shows that iPS cells can be produced using non-viral plasmid expression systems, offering safer approaches for regenerative medicine applications.
