Target Information
Noggin is involved in numerous developmental processes, including neural tube fusion and joint formation. Organ morphogenesis begins with epithelial stem cell downgrowth, regulated by:
- WNT3A, which stabilizes beta-catenin
- Noggin, a bone morphogenetic protein inhibitor
Noggin mutations are associated with proximal symphalangism (SYM1) and multiple synostoses syndrome (SYNS1), characterized by multiple joint fusion defects.
