This antibody does not cross-react with recombinant IL-6 from mouse, rat, or pig.
Target Information
IL-6 encodes a cytokine involved in inflammation and B cell maturation. It acts as an endogenous pyrogen, inducing fever during autoimmune diseases or infections. IL-6 is primarily expressed at sites of acute and chronic inflammation, secreted into serum, and triggers transcriptional inflammatory responses via the interleukin 6 receptor alpha. Dysregulation of IL-6 is linked to various inflammatory diseases, including diabetes mellitus susceptibility, systemic juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, and elevated levels are observed in viral infections such as COVID-19.
