KPNA6는 KPNA 패밀리 내 IPOA5 및 IPOA6를 포함하는 서브패밀리에 속합니다. HeLa 세포에서 RNAi를 통한 KPNA6 발현 억제는 세포 증식을 강하게 억제하며, 이는 핵 내로 특정 성장 관련 인자의 수입이 차단되기 때문일 수 있습니다. 또한 KPNA6는 HIV-1 Rev 단백질과 상호작용하여 그 핵 내 수입을 촉진합니다.
