Target Information
STAU1 is a double-stranded RNA (dsRNA)-binding protein involved in the transport and localization of mRNAs to different subcellular compartments and organelles. It contains multiple dsRNA-binding domains necessary for RNA binding and a microtubule-binding domain similar to that of MAP1B, enabling interaction with tubulin. STAU1 is associated with the rough endoplasmic reticulum (RER), suggesting its role in mRNA transport via the microtubule network. It also interacts with influenza ribonucleoproteins NS1, NP, and PA, and is essential for efficient viral replication.
