alpha-Internexin은 신경 발달 초기부터 발현되는 Class IV 중간 필라멘트 단백질로, NF-L, NF-M, NF-H 등 신경 필라멘트 삼중단백질과 유사한 구조를 가집니다. 성숙한 신경세포에서 alpha-Internexin은 NF 단백질과 함께 또는 단독으로 존재하며, 신경세포 유형 분류와 발달 과정 연구에 유용한 마커입니다. 또한 신경 전구세포 및 신경계로 분화된 세포의 조기 진단 마커로 활용될 수 있습니다.
