This antibody has specificity for Human CD103/Integrin alpha E/ITGAE.

Target Information

CD103 (ITGAE, Integrin alpha E) is expressed on mucosa-associated T lymphocytes and activated cells, as well as a subset of TGF beta-1 cells. It includes a 150 kDa alpha chain and a 120 kDa beta chain. CD103 is expressed by 0.5–2% of resting lymphocytes in peripheral blood and lymphoid organs. It stains a few bone marrow cells and rarely peripheral blood lymphocytes.
CD103 belongs to the integrin family, composed of heterodimeric integral membrane proteins with alpha and beta chains. ITGAE encodes an I-domain-containing alpha integrin that undergoes post-translational cleavage in the extracellular domain, forming disulfide-linked heavy and light chains.
When combined with beta 7 integrin, CD103 forms the E-cadherin binding integrin known as human mucosal lymphocyte-1 antigen. It is preferentially expressed in human intestinal intraepithelial lymphocytes (IEL) and may play roles in adhesion and activation.
Diseases associated with CD103 dysfunction include hairy cell leukemia and splenic marginal zone lymphoma.
