Target Information
SIGNR1 is a type II transmembrane C-type lectin identified as a mouse homologue of human DC-SIGN. It is highly expressed in splenic marginal zone macrophages and lymph node medullary macrophages, where it mediates uptake of dextran polysaccharides, including the capsular polysaccharide of Streptococcus pneumoniae. SIGNR1 associates with TLR4/MD2, suggesting a role in LPS recognition. SIGNR1-deficient mice show defects in catabolism of complement component C3, and SIGNR1 binds directly to complement C1q to assemble a non-conventional C3 convertase.
