Target Information
Cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterases (PDEs) catalyze the hydrolysis of 5′,3′-cyclic nucleotides cAMP and cGMP to their corresponding nucleoside 5′-monophosphates. Mammalian PDEs are classified into several families based on substrate affinities, inhibitor sensitivities, regulatory mechanisms, and amino acid sequence homologies. The PDE8 family includes high-affinity, cAMP-specific, IBMX-insensitive PDEs such as PDE8B. All PDEs share a conserved C-terminal catalytic region and a variable N-terminal domain that contributes to distinct regulatory properties.
