Target Information
Cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterases (PDEs) catalyze the hydrolysis of cyclic nucleotides cAMP and cGMP into their corresponding nucleoside monophosphates. Mammalian PDEs are classified into several families based on substrate affinities, inhibitor sensitivities, regulatory mechanisms, and sequence homologies. The PDE8 family includes high-affinity, cAMP-specific, IBMX-insensitive enzymes such as PDE8B. All PDEs share a conserved C-terminal catalytic domain and a variable N-terminal region that contributes to unique regulatory properties.
